Rugs are not carpet

Why can’t my rug just be steam-cleaned on the floor?

Wall-to-wall carpet is glued down, synthetic, and built to take a truck-mounted steam wand. Your area rug is none of those things.

A hand-knotted Persian holds pounds of fine grit deep in its foundation — grit no vacuum reaches, and no surface cleaning touches. Wet the rug on your tile and that grit turns to abrasive mud inside the pile.

Worse, many rug dyes bleed the moment they meet hot water. We have seen beautiful Tabriz medallions with reds run into ivory fields because someone treated a rug like carpet.

A rug deserves a wash, not a wand.

That means dusting machines to shake out the grit dry, dye testing before a drop of water, the right chemistry for the fiber, a genuine rinse, and days in a controlled drying room. That work can’t happen in your living room — so we bring the rug to the equipment, then bring it home to you.

The short version

What happens after we pick up your rug?

Inspect & test

We identify the construction and fiber — wool, silk, cotton, synthetic — note stains and wear, and test every color for bleeding risk before choosing the wash.

Dust it dry

A vibrating duster shakes years of dry Broward grit out of the foundation while the rug is still dry — the step home vacuums can’t do.

Treat & shampoo

Stains get targeted pre-treatment, then a gentle rotary shampoo works the pile by hand-guided machine, matched to the fiber.

Rinse it clean

Cold-water jets flush out every trace of soil and shampoo, and the wringer draws the bulk of the moisture back out.

Dry & return

Days in a temperature-controlled drying room, verified by moisture meter, fringes hand-finished, then delivered back to your door.

Most rugs are home in about 7–10 days

Every construction, its own wash

Rugs we clean

The wash adapts to the rug — fiber, dye, and construction decide the chemistry and the handling. These are the pieces that cross our wash floor every week.

Oriental & Persian

Hand-knotted Persian, Turkish, Chinese, Bokhara, and tribal pieces — dye-tested before a drop of water, washed the way the weaver intended.

Wool

Wool hides pounds of Broward grit deep in the pile. Dry dusting shakes it out first; gentle chemistry protects the lanolin.

Silk

Silk and silk-highlight rugs get dedicated products, slower handling, and the gentlest wash we run.

Antique & Heirloom

Fragile foundations and old dyes call for testing before anything else. If washing would put a piece at risk, we say so plainly.

Kilim & Flatweave

Kilim and Moroccan flatweaves have no pile to hide residue in — a genuine rinse matters twice as much.

Shag & Flokati

Deep pile traps sand like a beach towel. Dusted, shampooed, rinsed — then combed out and dried to the core.

Machine-Made & Synthetic

Karastan, Couristan, sisal, and synthetics — cleaned honestly, and we tell you when a wash isn’t worth the cost.

Braided, Hooked & Custom

Braided, hooked, sheepskin, and custom-bound pieces each get the handling their construction demands.

Straight pricing

Why do we look at your rug before naming a price?

Because two rugs the same size can be completely different jobs.

A machine-made polypropylene runner and a silk Qum the same footage need different chemistry, different handling, and different hours of work. Pet urine, unstable dyes, and worn fringes change the job again.

So a price quoted over the phone, sight unseen, is either a guess or a hook. You have probably met the hook version: the low number that grows once your rug is on their truck.

We would rather look first and quote once.

At pickup we examine the rug, explain what it needs, and give you the full price before any work starts. If part of the work isn’t worth paying for — say, an inexpensive rug near the end of its life — we’ll say so, even when that costs us the job.

More than washing

Fringes, edges, and repairs — done by hand

Unraveling edges and chewed fringes don’t fix themselves; they spread. Our repair work is done by hand at the same facility that washes your rug, so damage we spot during inspection can be corrected before it grows.

Straight answers

What Plantation rug owners ask us

Do you clean rugs in my home, or take them somewhere?

We take them in. A rug lying on your tile can only be surface-cleaned; real washing needs dusting machines, dye testing, rinse equipment, and a drying room. We pick your rug up, wash it at our facility, and bring it back — pickup and delivery are free across Broward.

How much does rug cleaning cost in Plantation?

We price after we see the rug, not before. Size, fiber, dye stability, pet contamination, and fringe condition all change what the work involves, so a phone quote would be a guess. We inspect first, then give you one clear number before anything is washed.

Do you pick up rugs from Plantation Acres and Jacaranda?

Yes — every Plantation neighborhood, plus Sunrise, Davie, Lauderhill, and the rest of Broward County. Pickup and delivery are free. Call (954) 719-5093 to schedule.

How long will my rug be gone?

Most rugs come home in roughly a week to ten days. Drying alone takes several days, and we refuse to rush it — a rug returned damp invites mildew in Florida. Your rug’s actual timeline is confirmed at pickup.

Can South Florida humidity ruin a wool rug?

It can. Humidity plus a damp slab or slow leak under a rug leads to mildew, dry rot, and dye migration. Our process ends with moisture-meter testing in a controlled drying room, and we recommend a proper pad under the rug.

Is it safe to wash an antique or silk rug?

Only after testing. Every rug is inspected and its dyes tested for colorfastness before water touches it. Silk and antique pieces get gentler chemistry and slower handling. If washing would put your rug at risk, we tell you plainly.
